Note how similar this is to McCall 9094.
I recently ran across a very funny bit of dialog in Margery Sharp's Cluny Brown in which an older lady, Lady Carmel, observes one of her young house guests crawling around the tennis court on her hands and knees, and asks another house guest to "...make her get up, dear, I don't know what she's wearing." and is reassured that "It's a divided skirt, Lady Carmel."

That is a very cute outfit... I'd love something like that to wear hiking with the kids or at the church picnic.
Hmm, I wonder if I'd look as slim as those gals in the pattern cover illustration;)
I rather like the idea of a divided skirt for bicycling! Maybe a little shorter than pictured here, perhaps just below the knee?
Persuaded - I think the slim look of the '30s (for both men an women) is probably one of the most successful looks of all time. That said, it can be hard to wear well if you've got hips, which most of us do. On the other hand; who cares when you're hiking or sitting at a picnic table?
Knitosaurusrex - when I was in high school, back in the last century, there was a brief fad for culottes that came just below the knee. I remember making a pair and wearing them quite a bit. I think it's worth trying out.
